Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay today inaugurated the second leadership summit of Tibetan students at the lower TCV school in Dharamshala. The eight-day summit, organised by the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, is being held to build on the success of the first leadership summit organised by the department last year. Over 300 class X students from Nepal and India are participating in this year’s summit. The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony was Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay.   Mr. Ngodup Tsering, Kalon of the Department of Education (DoE), Central Tibetan Administration, today inaugurated a new web-portal on career counseling ‘Lamton.org’. Speaking at the web inauguration, he said that the website is a ‘New Year’s gift’ for the high school Tibetan students. He recalled the earlier days when people did not have such facilities and explained that the present generation should make optimum utilisation of these facilities to excel in their respective fields. 6th December 2014: Tibetan Homes Foundation, Mussoorie had their Teacher Professional Day celebration on 6th December Saturday. Mr. Tashi Dhoundup la, the Sambhota English resource person cum TPD consultant and Mr. Tenzin Dhargyal, the Education Consultant at Tibet Fund with request from DoE attended the day with the sole aim of giving feedback and guidance. The first cluster level EGR Workshop was conducted from 21 to 30 December, 2014 at the Dalai Lama Institute of Higher Education, Bangalore, in two batches for 53 primary teachers of the Tibetan Schools in South India. The Department of Education, CTA organised the cluster level Intervention Workshop for school librarians at Upper TCV school, Dharamsala from January 2-5, 2015. In the four-day workshop, the Librarians directly engaged with the tasks with hands – on experience and empowered to return to school and replicate the process. The workshop broadly covered interactive sessions on library activities, book audit and homework reading, planning the library layout, organising and labelling, data management of a library and discussions and planning for the way forward. A Tibetan donates one lakh US dollars for scholarship

DHARAMSHALA: Markham Dungkartsang, a Tibetan family, has donated one lakh US dollar for the scholarship fund of the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration. The scholarship will be named Markham Dhungkartsang Dayang Scholarship for Tibetan students.
