ཟུར་མཆནཿ གོང་གསལ་སློབ་ཡོན་འདི་དག་ཐོབ་རྒྱུར་ཤེས་རིག་ལས་ཁུངས་ཀྱི་སློབ་ཡོན་སྒྲིག་ གཞིར་གསལ་བའི་དགོས་མཁོ་དང་ཆ་རྐྱེན་རྣམས་ཚང་དགོས་པ་ཡིན།
Some highlights of the new scheme:
- Gaden Phodrang Student Merit Award: As an incentive to students, the Department of Education has increased both the amount and the number of awardees of this prestigious award. The number of awardees has been increased to nine students from the present three, and the cash award is now 20,000 INR, 15,000 INR and 10,000 INR for the top three recipients in each of the science, arts and commerce stream.
- Sikyong Scholarship: This new scholarship is being rolled out to encourage our students to work harder and perform better in the board exams. Any student who obtains 95% or higher in the XIIth grade board exam will be awarded this prestigious scholarship, amounting to 100,000 INR (One lakh rupees), However, the concerned student(s) must obtain 70% or more in the exam in order to continue to receive this scholarship failing which the candidate shall get regular scholarship amount depending on his/her exam marks.
- Sikyong Award for Academic Accomplishments: Any student or candidate who has completed a Ph.D. in any field will be awarded the Sikyong Award of 20,000 INR, along with a certificate of appreciation.
- Students scoring higher percentages on the annual exam will be rewarded with higher scholarship amounts. Presently, we provide the same scholarship amount to all the students, irrespective of performance. For example, a student with 60% score receives the same amount as one with 80% score. However, now under the new scholarship scheme, students will be awarded scholarships ranging from 30,000 INR to 100,000 INR depending on their performance in the school board exams.
- Cash Incentive Award: The recipients of DOE scholarship prior to the launch of New Scholarship scheme (2013) shall get a cash award of INR 10,000/- for securing 75% or more in their Annual Exam, in addition to their regular scholarship. This incentive award is also entitle to those students who are not benefited any sort of scholarship from any institute/organization under Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).
- Special Scholarships for Economically Disadvantaged (Nyamthak) Students: This scholarship has been introduced for students under category ‘C’ who are financially below the poverty line as determined by the CTA. It aims to help such students complete a higher education, which will in turn help alleviate families from poverty. The students under this category who score a minimum of 40% on the board exam will get scholarship. However, such student (s) must be the ones who are found physically not fit to join the SFF service.
- Foreign Language scholarship: A supplemental grant of INR 10,000 & 15,000 for certificate/diploma course and Advance course respectively is provided to any student holding Sherig scholarship for taking up simultaneously any one of the following languages (Chinese, French, Russia, Arabic, Spain & Japanese) along with their regular course. The language course must be offered by recognized institution/College/ University.
- Short-term professional scholarship: Any students under the Sherig scholarship taking short term certificate/diploma course on professional subject, in addition to their regular course shall be awarded Rs 5,000 as supplemental scholarship. Such course must be offered by recognized institution/college/University.
- Sherab Gatsel Student scholarship: Five scholarships will reserved for the student’s of Sherab Gatsel Ling School under Sambhota Tibetan School Society (STSS), Dharamsala for pursuing further study. Concerned student(s) must submit their application through the STSS.
NOTE: The above Scholarships & Awards are subject to the fulfillment of criterion stipulated in the Rules and Regulation governing DOE Scholarship Program.
