Dharamshala: The chair and members of the Education Council and Advisory Committee, Department of Education (CTA), toured Tibetan schools and provided guidance to students, teachers and parents.
The Committee’s chair Ven Geshe Lhakdor visited Tibetan schools based in Dharamshala for three days from 19 – 21 July 2022. Similarly, the Committee member Lhakpa Tsering, professor at Central institute of higher Tibetan studies – Varanasi, visited schools of Tibetan settlements in central India from 20 – 29 June, while the other committee members, namely Palkhang Nyima Dhondup (Principal of Palkhang Academy) and Sonam Gyaltsen (lecturer at College for Higher Tibetan Studies – Sarah) visited Tibetan schools in northeast regions encompassing Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Gangtok, and Tibetan schools in Bir-Chauntra, respectively from 11 July.
During the Education Council and Advisory Committee’s visitation, the chair and members inspected the schools’ libraries, classrooms, science laboratories, hostels and dining halls. At the same time, visiting members assessed the schools’ adherence to the education policy of Central Tibetan Administration and oversaw the teachings in classes.
The inspection cum direction, funded by Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), received support and facilitation from the respective schools and settlement offices.
