Miao: Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra of the Department of Education (CTA), accompanied by the Sambhota Tibetan

Schools Society Director, Tsering Dhondup, and Deputy Secretary Ugyen Tenzin, visited Sambhota Tibetan School in Miao Choephelling Settlement and addressed the student. 

Upon their arrival on 31 March 2023, Education Kalon and the visiting team were accorded a warm reception by the Tibetan Settlement Officer, Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly, Sambhota Tibetan School’s Principal, heads of the local NGOs, students and the residents of the settlement. 

Thereafter, the team visited crèche and Montessori school of the Sambhota school, Tibetan Primary Health Care Centre, local Men-tsee-khang, and the office of regional Tibetan cooperation. 

During her visit to the school on 1 April, Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra spoke to the students about the value of committed effort and excellent health in academics. She pleaded with teachers and students to uphold Tibetan culture’s traditional virtues and adhere to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teachings. The students also performed classical performances, Tibetan dialectic debates, and poetry readings for the audience.

Before concluding her engagements in the settlement, Education Kalon addressed the Tibetan community of the region on 2 April. The Kalon will also visit Tezu Dhargyeling, Shillong and Tenzingang settlements.
