Chiba Institute of Technology (CIT) Scholarship – 2025

The Department of Education, CTA, is pleased to announce that Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan is offering scholarships for three Tibetan refugee students to pursue a two-year Master’s program at their institution. This scholarship will cover tuition fees, accommodation and a round trip travel expenses. Interested applicants are required to submit all necessary documents through the provided link by 25 June 2024.

The scholarship opportunity will be open for the academic years 2025 to 2027, for the following Master’s program courses:

1) Master’s Program in Management Science

2) Master’s Program in Information and Computer Science

(All the courses will be conducted in English, except for the Japanese language class)

Eligibility and Required Documents:

  1. The applicant and their parents must be a Tibetan refugee holding a Green Book (GB) with contributions paid until the year 2023. Form A must be duly filled and attested by local Tibetan Settlement Officer. 
  2. The applicant must have secured minimum aggregate percentage of 50% in their undergraduate degree from a recognised university in any field of study and must have graduated in 2021 or later. (The graduation year will be considered according to the result/mark sheet declaration date, not the date of issuance of the Degree Certificate).
  3. Applicant must have a valid Identity Certificate (IC) or the IC payment receipt for newly applied and for extension of IC.
  4. Applicant are required to compile the following documents into a single PDF, in the specified order:
  • Resume with passport photo. (One page)
  • Recommendation letter from Undergraduate college/university. (Latest recommendation letter signed by the respective professor and bearing the university stamp)
  • An essay on ‘Why you are applying for this scholarship?’ (400 to 500 words typed – A4 size)
  • Japanese Language Certificate (if available) 

Selection Procedure:

  1. An initial selection process comprising an online interview will be conducted for all eligible applicants on 28 June 2024.
  2. The top five candidates with highest scores will be shortlisted based on the following marking system: 
  • Undergraduate academic performance: 15 Points.

  • Japanese Language Certificate: 5 points. (The certificate must have a minimum duration 1 year to be eligible for points.)
  • Initial selection online interview: 80 Points.

The shortlisted candidates will undergo a final online interview by the Chiba Institute of Technology (CIT). The interview schedule will be communicated via email.
