Education Kalon Tharlam Dolma Successfully Completes Official Visit to Germany

Berlin: The Kalon (Minister) of the Department of Education, Tharlam Dolma Changra, visited various locations in Germany, where she met with members of the Tibetan community, local supporters, and educational institutions to raise awareness about Tibet issues and to encourage the preservation of Tibetan identity among the diasporic Tibetan community.

On 8 October 2025, the Education Kalon met with the Animal Shelter organisation in Germany, where she addressed the historical and political situation of Tibet. She reaffirmed that Tibet was historically an independent country, referencing ancient records and documentation.

She detailed how the CCP has exploited Tibet’s natural and mineral resources for its own benefit, while systematically depriving Tibetans inside Tibet of basic freedoms—including the right to use their own language, practice religion, and display portraits of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. She highlighted the false narratives presented by Chinese officials to foreign visitors and drew attention to the harsh conditions in boarding schools, where students reportedly suffer from poor food, inadequate education, and severe oppression.

On 11 October, upon arriving in Berlin, she met with the Tibetan translator Lotsawa Loden Sherab, accompanied by UN Advocacy Officer Phuntsok Topgyal, from the Office of Tibet in Geneva.

Her itinerary continued on 12 October with a visit to the Munich Tibetan Weekend School, where she met with the school principal and teachers. Addressing the students, she encouraged them to embrace their Tibetan identity and work diligently in their studies. She reminded them that many Tibetans inside Tibet continue to suffer under CPC rule, and they bear the major responsibility for the continuance of Tibet’s advocacy.

In a separate meeting with parents, teachers, and local community members, Kalon Tharlam Dolma stressed the importance of unity among Tibetans and the use of the Tibetan language in daily communication. She urged the community to take pride in the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and to honour his vision by raising well-educated and morally grounded Tibetan youth.

On 13 October 2025, Kalon Tharlam Dolma departed Germany, en route to Delhi, with her return to Dharamshala scheduled for 14 October. Her visit served to strengthen ties with the Tibetan diaspora in Germany while shedding light on the ongoing challenges faced by Tibetans inside Tibet under Chinese authority
