Dharamshala: The Scholarship Section of the Department of Education (DoE), Central Tibetan Administration, successfully completed the first leg of its Scholarship Awareness Programme in Tibetan schools across North-East and South India from 29 October to 8 November 2025.
Sonam Sangmo, Head of the Scholarship Section, accompanied by Tenzin Samdup, conducted sessions for approximately 530 students from Classes X to XII at STS Darjeeling, STS Kalimpong, STS Bylakuppe, TCV Bylakuppe, and STS Mundgod.
During the sessions, students gained valuable insights into various DoE scholarship opportunities, learned about eligibility criteria, and received hands-on guidance on the online application process. Participants were also given the opportunity for one-on-one interaction, where individual doubts and queries were addressed in detail.
At STS Mundgod, a separate session was also held for around 80 enthusiastic parents, focusing on scholarship opportunities offered to Tibetan students under the DoE.
To ensure continued improvement of the programme, students were also requested to fill out feedback forms, which will help refine future sessions and presentation methods.
The programme was initiated following feedback received during earlier college-level awareness sessions, where participants emphasised the importance of introducing such programmes at the school level to better prepare students for higher education and scholarship applications.
“It is good to see students taking keen interest in learning about scholarship opportunities. Our aim is to empower every Tibetan student with the right information and confidence to pursue higher education,” said Sonam Sangmo, Head of the Scholarship Section, Department of Education.
