Dharamshala: The Education Council of the Department of Education (DoE), Central Tibetan Administration, held a five-day meeting in Dharamshala from 24 to 28 November 2025 to finalise the Grade IX and X Tibetan-language textbooks for Tibetan schools.
During the meeting, the Textbook Reviewing Committee thoroughly discussed the draft textbooks that were initially reviewed in May this year, making necessary additions and deletions.
The committee included Under Secretary Ngodup Tenpa from the Academic Section; Joint Secretary Gedun Donyoe, Head of the Textbook Section; and Under Secretary Tenzin Pal, the editor of the textbooks. Other members were teachers and staff from various Tibetan academic institutions: General Secretary of TCV Mingchung, former Senior Tibetan Teachers’ Mentor at TCV; literature tutor Anam Soepa, instructor at CHTS, Sarah; Tenzin Choekyab, Tibetan teacher at TCV Suja; Phurbu Dolma, Tibetan teacher at Upper TCV; Jampa Choedon, Tibetan teacher at THS Mussoorie; and Dawa Tsering, Tibetan teacher at Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School.
The finalised textbooks will be published and distributed to Tibetan schools for use in the coming academic years. The textbook finalisation meeting was funded by the DANIDA organisation.
