Department of Education Holds Meeting to Finalise Science Textbook for Class VI

Dharamshala: The Department of Education (DoE), Central Tibetan Administration, held a six-day meeting with science teachers from Tibetan schools at the DoE conference hall from 13 to 18 April 2026 to finalise the Class VI science textbook.

Since 2025, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) of India has been revising and updating its school textbooks. As part of this alignment, the Class VI Science textbook has been revised, with six chapters finalised so far. While six chapters had been previously finalised, this gathering focused on reviewing and finalising the remaining sections of the textbook. Looking ahead, the council also confirmed plans to begin the translation and editing of the Class 7 Science textbook later this year.

The meeting was attended by Gedhun Dhonyoe, Head of the Department’s Textbook Section, textbook Editor Chagthar Bum, and Dorjee Wangdue, Under Secretary and Science and Mathematics Education Officer.

Other participants included Tenzin Ngodup from TCV Upper science teacher; Choenzin Lhamo and Lhundup Namgyal from TCV Selakui science teacher; Nyima Tsering, Principal and Science teacher at TCV Suja.

Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School headmistress Tenzin Choedron, and science teacher Tenzin Lhadon, as well as Tashi Tsering from TCV Mussoorie, and Tenzin Dawa, a former science teacher from TCV Chauntra.

The entire cost of the meeting was supported by DANIDA.
