EDUCATION KALON VISITS TIBETAN SETTLEMENT ODISHA
Mr. Ngodup Tsering, Kalon for Education, Central Tibetan Administration was on official visit from 26-27 August to Tibetan Settlement, Odisha where he visited CST schools and 5 camps in the settlement. On 26 August, Kalon Ngodup Tsering visited CST Chandragiri where he was welcomed by the school principal, teachers and the students. Education Kalon witnessed the various academic activities performed by the students in the morning assembly.
In his speech, he urged the students and the teachers to give importance to education and make efforts to provide and acquire quality education. He specially thanked Indian teaching and non-teaching staff for their great contributions made towards education of Tibetan children. He mentioned that the kindness of the Government of India and its people will always be remembered by Tibetans. Education Kalon visited other pre-primary and primary schools located in the settlement where he inspected teaching learning proceedings of each and every class. He also interacted with the students and teachers during classroom visits.
Later on, he had informal discussions with teachers and staff of the schools. On 27 August, Education Kalon addressed the gathering of Tibetan settlement people where he stressed on the importance of education, role of parents in the education of their children, preservation of Tibetan language and many other relate issues. He also spoke about the various scholarship schemes of DoE and middle way approach of CTA followed by questions and answers session with the settlement people. A separate meeting was held with camp leaders and members of various organizations such as local assembly, cooperative society, health center, Men-tsee-khang and other Tibetan organizations followed by questions and answers. In the afternoon, he paid visit to settlement camps, offices, monasteries, hospitals, and old age home in the settlement. On 29 August, on his way back to Delhi, Education Kalon visited KISS (Kalinga Institute of Social Science) and KIIT University Bhubaneswar. He met with four of the Tibetan students who are studying in KISS. On August 30, 2015, he returned to Dharamsala.
