Education Department Completes Finalisation of Class Seven’s Science Textbook

Dharamshala: The Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration held a five-day meeting from 3-7 October 2023 to finalise the draft of the latest edition of the class 7 Science Textbook based on the Middle School curriculum formulated under the principles of the Basic Education Policy for Tibetans in Exile.

Additional Secretary Tenzin Pema, Director of the Office of Education Council, explained the necessity of translating modern science into Tibetan while underscoring the tasks of the textbook review committee.

During the five-day meeting, the Science textbook editors of the Education Council undertook the translation of the science textbook finalised by the CBSE. The textbook review committee, after conducting thorough discussions, has finalised six chapters.

The meeting was attended by Dorje Wangdue, Science and Mathematics Education Officer; Gedun Dhonyoe, the Education Council’s textbook section head; Chakthar Bhum, Science textbook editor; Upper TCV’s Science teachers, Tenzin Ngodup and Lhundup Namgyal; TCV Suja’s Science teacher, Nyima Tsering; TCV Selakui’s Science teacher, Choezin Lhamo;  Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School’s Headmistress Tenzin Choedon; and Tibetan Homes School Mussoorie Science teachers, Sonam Bhuti and Tashi Tsering.

The Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) has funded the meeting.
