Education Department Finalises New Edition of Tibetan Textbooks for Class II & III

Dharamshala: The Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, held a five-day meeting from 30 October

to 3 November 2023 to finalise the class II & III Tibetan textbooks.

In alliance with elementary and primary school curriculum formulated in 2021 per principles of the Basic Education Policy for Tibetans in Exile, the meeting thoroughly reviewed and copy-edited the draft of the before-mentioned classes’ latest Tibetan textbook which will be issued to Tibetan schools from academic year 2024.

The finalisation meeting – funded by DANIDA – was attended by Tibetan Education Officer Ngodup Tenpa; Gedun Dhonyoe, head of the Textbook section of the office of the Education Council; Tenzin Pal (Tibetan language textbook editor); TCV Tibetan language mentors Mingchung and Ngawang Jinpa; THS Tibetan language mentors Sangpo and Yeshe Palden; Gangkyi Petoen School’s Tibetan language teachers Passang Tsering and Ven Tenzin Choetso; TCV Suja Tibetan language teacher Jamgon; and Lower TCV Tibetan language teacher Tenzin Palkyi.
