During the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown, the Department of Education, CTA has initiated several online educational programs for students and provided guidelines for teachers and parents to ensure learning continuity for children at home. Beginning this Saturday, May 09, 2020, DoE will launch its first episode of four video lessons for parents of pre-primary children aged between 3-6 years through Tibet TV broadcast.
Each episode of four video lessons will cover tips and guidance on how parents could support their children’s key areas of development, namely, social-emotional, physical, cognitive, language and literacy at home through the four Montessori curriculums: Sensorial, Exercises of Practical Life, Math and Tibetan language. Supporting to progress children’s key areas of development is essentially to lay a strong foundation in them to become self-confident, independent, creative and responsible people who will continue to pursue learning throughout their lives and become life-long learners.
It is obvious that young children learn through exploring their environment, engaging in activities and interacting with people and things around them. Therefore, DOE firmly advocates that the pre-primary children should not be pressured with worksheets and homework but supported with purposeful and joyful learning activities by adults around them. Keeping these in mind, the videos on each subject will be delivered by pre-primary teachers. Each video will begin with a clear scientific/logical introduction followed by plenty of hands-on activities, and daily-tips which parents can prepare and do at home for their children during this lockdown period and in the future too.
The videos will be available on every saturday (9th, 16th, 23th and 30th) of May 2020 through the following official media:
