School Leadership Workshop Held Successfully for THF School Principals, Head-teachers, and Teachers in Mussoorie

Mussoorie: The Department of Education (DoE), the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), in coordination with the Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF), Mussoorie, successfully organized a School Leadership Workshop for THF school principals, head-teachers, and teachers from 18–20 November 2024. The workshop took place in the Conference Room of THF Mussoorie, with 13 participants from four THF schools attending.

The opening ceremony was graced by several distinguished figures, including Mr. Tenzin Choklang, General Secretary of THF Mussoorie, Mr. Tenzin Dorjee, Head of the DoE Academic Section, Mr. Migmar Tsering, Assistant General Secretary of THF, Dr. Passang Dhondup, Education Officer of THF, and workshop facilitators Mr. Mohd Amzad and Ms. Shreya Thakkar from Alokit, along with the workshop participants. During the ceremony, Mr. Choklang welcomed the trainers with traditional scarves and, along with the DoE representative, lit a butter lamp as part of the opening ritual.

In his welcome address, Mr. Choklang emphasized the importance of active participation to ensure the workshop’s success. He also highlighted the long-term coordination efforts that led to this event, which began in August 2024. Mr. Tenzin Dorjee provided insight into the DoE’s efforts over the past five years to strengthen school leadership through training programs, follow-up visits, and funding for school improvement plans. He also outlined the workshop’s objectives, reaffirming the DoE’s ongoing commitment to supporting school leaders in managing schools effectively. The facilitators then shared an overview of the three-day workshop agenda, setting clear expectations for the participants. Mr. Migmar Tsering delivered the vote of thanks, and a group photo of all the attendees was taken.

Before the workshop, the trainers conducted a needs analysis by gathering suggestions from participants to tailor the sessions effectively. The workshop covered key areas of school leadership, including personal, people, strategic, and instructional leadership. Participants engaged in various activities, including group discussions, presentations, and individual tasks.

The workshop concluded on the afternoon of 20 November, with two participants sharing feedback and their learning experiences. The trainers also provided reflections on the workshop’s impact. Certificates and traditional scarves were presented to all participants, followed by thank-you gifts for the trainers from Mr. Choklang. In his closing address, Mr. Choklang expressed gratitude to the DoE for its support and thanked the trainers for their efforts in ensuring the workshop’s success. He encouraged participants to apply their new knowledge in their schools. Mr. Migmar Tsering delivered the vote of thanks, and a farewell dinner was served to all attendees. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Tenzin Dorjee and Dr. Passang Dhondup.
