Three officials from Agriteam, Canada headed by the Vice President, Gayle Turner visited Department of Education CTA Dharamsala from April 21-29, 2015 to discuss implementation of CA$ 2 million project “Improving Education Quality and Learning for Tibetan Children in India and Nepal” generously funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD), Canada.
During their short stay in Dharamsala, they met Sikyong Dr.Lobsang Sangay, Education Kalon Ngodup Tsering, Education Secretaries, section heads & project officers. Series of meeting/discussions were held with the section heads and project officers to discuss on implementation plan, financial management, environment and gender issues, monitoring and evaluation etc.
They visited Lower Tibetan Children Village School (LTCV) Dharamsala on April 27, 2015 to observe the ongoing Tibetan language mentorship program and met with School Principal and project coordinator.
On 29th April, 2015 they were granted private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The Education Kalon and the project officer also, accompanied them. His Holiness talked for about 30 minutes, highlighting reasons for setting up separate Tibetan schools and the need for modern education systems and curriculum to include generating warm heartedness and compassion through secular way.
