School Heads and Teachers Receive Workshop on Basic Education Policy and National Education Policy

Dharamshala: The Department of Education organised a  three-day workshop on Basic Education Policy (BEP) and National Education Policy (NEP) for around 40 school heads and teachers from Sambhota Schools in North East. During the workshop, participants learned, discussed and reflected upon the meaning, purpose and aims of education as per BEP and NEP. The workshop also explored a few important topics such as ECCE, classroom teaching and learning, assessment, language, and continuous professional development of teachers.

The workshop was held at Sambhota Tibetan School, Darjeeling and its inaugural session was attended by Tsewang Phuntsok, TSO Darjeeling, Kalsang Chodon, Principal of STS Darjeeling, Kalsang Wangdu, Resource Person and Tenzin Dorjee, Head of Academic Section.

TSO Tsewang Phuntsok in his keynote address reminded the participants about the incomparable kindness bestowed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the invaluable contribution made by elder generations of Tibetans in exile while emphasising the importance of effective implementation of the Basic Education Policy in Tibetan schools.

The workshop was organised by the Department of Education, CTA with the venue arrangements and support provided by the Principal and staff of STS Darjeeling, and is funded by DANIDA.
