Shillong: Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra of the Department of Education (DoE), CTA, arrived in Shillong for her ongoing educational assessment visitation on Tuesday, 4 April to a fervent reception by the Tibetan Settlement Officer, Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly, Abbot of the regional Buddhist Monastery, President of Local Tibetan Women’s Association, local Men-tsee-khang’s sMenpa and Office Secretary of the Shillong Tibetan Community.
Education Kalon visited the Shillong Sambhota Tibetan School on a subsequent day and addressed the students and teachers on the significance of maintaining good health and persistent will in academic performance. She further underscored upholding traditional Tibetan values and guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Additionally, the Education Kalon also toured Gadhen Choeling Monastery, Tibetan Settlement Office and the local Men-tsee-khang.
Before wrapping off her engagements in the settlement, Education Kalon visited the Local Tibetan assembly office and interacted with the Tibetan Community there. She reminded gratefulness of the government and people of India to the Tibetans and urged the gathering to stay united and in harmony with locals and amongst the community.
The Kalon was accompanied by Tsering Dhondup, Director of the Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society, and DoE’s Deputy Secretary Ugyen Tenzin, head of the department’s terminology section, during the entire visit.
