Ladakh: The 3-day workshop on Differentiated Instruction and Gender-Responsive Pedagogy, organised by the Department of Education (DoE), Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), came to a successful conclusion on 2 August 2023. The closing program was attended by Dhondul Jigme, Principal of TCV School Ladakh, workshop facilitators Dr Kalsang Wangdu, Field Representative, Alinea International, and Tenzin Dorjee, Head of Academic Section of DoE, alongside the enthusiastic teacher participants.

During the closing function, Tenzin Dorjee extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Principal of TCV School Ladakh for graciously hosting the workshop. He recognised the efforts of Head-teacher Sherab Gyatso and the supporting staff for their instrumental role in organising the event seamlessly. He reminded the participating teachers of their important responsibilities as educators during the crucial times of Tibetans in exile and encouraged them to give their best efforts in their field. Dr Kalsang Wangdu, in a symbolic gesture, offered scarves as a token of appreciation, while Principal Dhondul Dorjee presented certificates to all the diligent participants.

During the feedback session, a few participants expressed genuine gratitude for both the facilitators, commending their engaging presentation and the practicality of the lessons delivered. One of the participants even mentioned that sacrificing their three days of summer break was undoubtedly worthwhile. While another participant said, the workshop was par excellence, with a bag full of takeaways from every session!

Principal Dhondul Dorjee, in his closing speech, thanked the Department of Education for organising such an essential workshop in their school. He also acknowledged the active involvement of the teachers throughout the sessions and urged them to implement their newly acquired knowledge in the classroom once they return after the summer holidays. The program ended with a group picture of all the participants with the school principal and facilitators.

A total number of 27 teachers, comprising 20 females and five males, participated in the workshop to enhance their teaching methodologies. The workshop was funded by Global Affairs Canada through Alinea International.
