Tokyo: In the third leg of her maiden visit to Japan, Education Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) visited the Japanese parliament building at Nagatacho, Tokyo, and met with the members and staff of the Japanese Parliamentarian Support Group for Tibet.
Shimomura Hakubun, Chairman of the Japanese Parliamentarian Support Group for Tibet, Ishii Mitsuko, Mr. Ryu Hirofumi, and others received Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra at the International conference hall. Shimomura welcomed Kalon and spoke of how the Japan Parliamentarian support group for Tibet was formed under the leadership of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo and how the parliamentarians respect H.H. the Dalai Lama’s vision for world peace and harmony. He spoke of the early visit of the parliamentarians with Madam Sakurai Yoshiko to Dharamsala and meeting with His Holiness and the officials of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).
Education Kalon T. D. Changra thanked Chairman Shimomura and the parliamentarians for inviting her to the parliament building and for the opportunity to speak before the members and the staff. She also thanked the parliamentarians, theJapanese people, and the government for their strong support of Tibetan’s struggle for freedom and justice. Kalon updated the parliamentarians on the situation in Tibet and talked about the baseless claim of the CCP in the selection of H.H. the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation and the Chinese colonial boarding schools in Tibet. She briefed them on the recent US Congress resolution “Tibet Resolve Act” and requested a similar form of support from the Japanese parliament.
Kalon updated the members on the recent visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the US and how the knee surgery has gone very well and that His Holiness is fine and healthy.
Representative of the Liaison Office of H.H. the Dalai Lama for Japan and East Asia, Dr. Tsewang Gyalpo Arya, briefed the members on the critical situation in Tibet and the CCP’s interference in Tibetan religious, cultural, and social issues. He thanked the Japanese parliament and the government for their statement condemning China’s human rights violation in Tibet during the Geneva Universal Periodic Review in January this year. He also informed the members of the recent seminar titled “Chinese Colonial Boarding School, an Evil Design to Eradicate the minority nationals’ identity” and requested their voice in curtailing this CCP’s evil policy to deny Tibetan children of their mother tongue and heritage.
Lawmaker Ishii Mitsuko moderated the event and thanked Kalon and the members for attending the meeting. Shimomura Hakubun, in his closing remark, thanked Kalon again for visiting the Parliament and addressing the members and assured continued support of the Japanese Parliamentarians for Tibet and His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s vision for world peace and harmony.
