41st Tibetan Terminology Standardising Board Meeting Finalises 723 Standard Terms

Dharamshala: The Terminology Section of the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, organised the 4st Tibetan Terminology Standardising Board Meeting was held over eight days from 27 October to 4 November 2025 at the department’s conference hall. 

Additional Secretary Kunga Gyaltsen, the president of the Board from the Department of Religion and Culture (CTA), presided over this meeting. The board members, including Dr Kelsang Wangdue, Geshe Ngawang Namdol, Menrampa Sonam Dolkar Oshoe, former TCV English teacher Tenzin Dargye, the secretary and a member of the Committee Urgyen Tenzin, and the Terminology section staff attended this meeting.

Over the course of this meeting, a total of 723 terms were finalised from the list of 900 proposed terms for application in Science, Education, Law, Politics, Economics, Arithmetics, Environment, and Technology. To date, a total of 22,384 terms have been standardised. The Term Book Series, up to volume 18, has been published, and a dedicated website for searching terms  (www.tibterminology.net), along with application software, has been developed. 

The funding for this standardisation meeting and project was provided by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA).
