INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR SCIENCE GRADUATES AT NATIONAL SCIENCE INSTITUTES
Jun 15 to Jul 15, 2015
Dharamsala: The Department of Education’s month long Internship Program for Science graduates for the year 2015 is underway since its commencement from June 15, 2015. The program being targeted to enhance Science Education is third of its kind since its inception in the year 2013 and this year too, nine students in total have been given opportunity to undergo internship at two renowned National Institutes of Science namely NATIONAL CENTRE FOR BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE ( NCBS ) Bengaluru and INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESERACH ( IISER) Pune.
Despite various ongoing strategies for improvement of Science Education in schools, learning of Science on part of students is lagging far behind and scarcity of professionals in the field of Science still remains a great challenge in Tibetan community. Hence, in keeping with the need of teaching and learning of science as in the real sense of its context which inculcates scientific bent of mind and scientific approach to problem solving in the learners, The Department of Education has embraced the internship program where students could gain first hand experiential learning under the direct guidance of scientists and get acquainted with atmosphere of the research centers. The interns are to shoulder the responsibility to share their learning with others and thereby help in enhancement of Science Education in community on the whole.
The program is financed with the generous funding from SOIR-IM, Sweden and Freidrich Neumann Stiftung, Germany.
The internship program will conclude by 15th July, 2015 and the interns are to submit report on completion of the program for further follow up.
