The Department of Education (DoE) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) is pleased to announce a scholarship offered by Anglo-American University in Prague, Czech Republic. Eligibility and Required Documents:
- The applicant must be a Tibetan refugee holding a Green Book (GB) with contributions made until 2025. Form Amust be duly filled and attested by the local Tibetan Settlement Officer.
- The applicant must possess a valid Registration Certificate (RC) and a valid Certificate of Identity (COI)/Identity Certificate (IC) with at least 1 year validity.
- Applicant must hold a regular bachelor’s degree in any field from a recognised Indian university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
- Applicants must not exceed 35 years of age as of August 1, 2026.
- Additional documents to be uploaded as a single PDF in the following order:
- CV/Resume (with photo affixed on top right corner)
- A 250–650-word personal statement on either of the following topic:
- Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
- The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
- Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
- Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?
- Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
- Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
- Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you’ve already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.
- Recommendation letters from two separate academic and/or professional referees in PDF.
- No Objection Certificate (only for currently employed applicants from their employer).
Selection Procedure:
- A preliminary selection interview will be conducted by DoE, and the top 6 candidates will be nominated as potential candidates for further process.
- No preliminary interview will be held if there are fewer than 10 applicants.
- The preliminarily selected candidates will then be asked to apply directly on the AAU website by March 15, 2026. The application fee will be waived for these candidates. The selection committee from AAU will then choose one final candidate as per their admission process who will receive the scholarship.
Follow Up:
- The nominated candidates need to send their application to the Anglo-American University by March 15, 2026.
- Selection is contingent upon the candidate securing a minimum score of 87 in TOEFL or 7 in IELTS. Failure to meet this criterion will result in the offer being extended to a waiting-list candidate.
- Original Bachelor Transcripts and Degree Certificate must be furnished to the admission office once selection and admission procedures are done.
- The scholarship covers full tuition and includes a monthly stipend of CZK 15,000. Complimentary accommodation is offered in university dormitories, while students choosing off-campus housing will need to cover their own accommodation expenses.
- Flight and health insurance expenses must be covered by the selected candidate.
- All visa-related procedures and expenses shall be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
