Dharamsala: The Counselors of the Department of Education, CTA has begun their annual School Visit program to counsel students in schools under its administration. The Tibetan schools in the North and North East India are being visited by Counselors from the head office while Resident Counselors in the branch Guidance & Counseling Office located in Mundgod visits the Tibetan Schools in Central & Southern India.

Visit by Counselors to the schools to provide counseling services to the students is one among many activities conducted by the Department of Education CTA under its Outreach Counseling Program. The target group for counseling are grades VI – XII. The Counselors stay in the school for three to six days depending on the level of the school be it Senior Secondary, Secondary & Middle School.

DOE staff, Ms. Pema Norkyi & Ms. Tenzin Paldon will counsel students of CST Mussoorie, THF Mussoorie and STS Dickyiling from August 26 – Sept 10, 2013. During this period, the counselors hold classroom guidance, meet students one on one for individual counseling and hold group counseling in the evening. They also conduct Psychological tests such as Career Interest Inventory, Multiple Intelligence Tests & Scientific Aptitude Test. The topics for counseling range from Self Awareness to Career Planning, Scholarship, College Admission process etc.

The Resident Counselors at DOE Guidance branch office in Mundgod begins their visit program to school in Central & Southern India from August 26,2013.

Prior to this, the Counselors of the Department had been to CST Dholanji, CST Shimla & STS Chauntra from April 29 to May 18, 2013. After that they counseled student of CST Dalhousie & Mewoen Tsuklag Petoen School Dharamsala from August 12 –  23, 2013.

Total of 1185 students had access to the counseling services and benefited from the visit to schools.
