Chennia: In a significant step towards creating inclusive learning environments, the Department of Education has collaborated with the Madras Dyslexia Association (MDA) to train two regular teachers as special educators. This initiative aims to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to support children with learning difficulties in schools located in the southern regions of India.
Two enthusiastic teachers, Deckyi Tsomo from STS Mundgod and Kelsang Choedon from STS Arlikumari, have been selected for a six-week intensive training program at the Madras Dyslexia Association (MDA), which commenced on 6 October. During this training, they will gain expertise in identifying and supporting students with specific learning disabilities, as well as develop strategies to foster inclusive classrooms.
As they undergo their training, Deckyi Tsomo and Kelsang Choedon have already begun sharing their learning with fellow teachers who are members of the Inclusive Committee. These sessions, held every Wednesday and Saturday, focus on practical strategies and techniques to support children with diverse learning needs. The goal is to empower other teachers with the tools to adapt lessons to individual student needs, ensuring that all learners have access to quality education.
