
Dharamshala: Under the Department of Education’s Education Council, a four-day meeting was held from 18 to 21 November 2025 to finalise the first-grade mathematics textbook for Tibetan primary schools.
This textbook finalisation meeting was attended by the Department’s Educational Periodicals Phayul Editor Ngawang Tenzin, Dekyi Palmo from the Academic Section, mathematics textbook editor Tenzin Tsephal, Sonam Gyalpo (the mathematics tutor at Upper TCV), former TCV educator Thinley Palmo, Sonam Choedon (Primary Mathematics teacher at TCV Chauntra), Pema Gyaltsen (acting principal of STS Shimla school), Tenzin Tsogyal and Tsering Tsamchoe (Mathematical teacher at Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School), and Dekyi Choedon (Mathematical teacher at THF Mussoorie).
In accordance with the Basic Education Policy for Tibetans in Exile, the draft first-grade mathematics textbook—revised and finalised in April 2025 based on the lower primary mathematics curriculum guidelines—was reviewed, thoroughly discussed, and approved during the meeting. Once the final proofreading is completed, the textbook will be printed and distributed free of cost to Tibetan schools.
The meeting was funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA).
