Dharamshala: The Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, held a five-days meeting to finalise the draft of the latest edition of class VIII Social Science textbook based on the Basic Education Policy for Tibetans in Exile from 6 to 10 November 2023.

The meeting, sponsored by Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) through CICED, was chaired by the Education Council’s textbook section’s head Gedun Dhonyoe and Social Science textbook editor Passang Tsering Bondhok. The members of the committee includes social science from various Tibetan schools, namely Tenzin Wangchuk and Lhazom Tsering from TCV Upper; Ngawang Tsetan and Tashi Lhamo from TCV Suja; Kunsang Dorji from Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School; Tenzin Yangkyi from STS Chandragiri; Lobsang Dhoundup from T.H.S Rajpur; and Tashi Tsomo from the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives.

The new edition of the class VIII Social Science textbook will be distributed to all the Tibetan schools at free of cost.
