Dharamshala: The Education Council of the Department of Education (DoE), Central Tibetan Administration, convened a meeting from 7 to 9 May 2025 at the conference hall of the Tibetan Computer Research Centre to standardise the primary-level mathematics curriculum and review textbooks for Classes I to III.
The meeting was attended by Under Secretary Dorjee Wangdue (Academic Section, DoE); Joint Secretary Gedun Dhonyoe (Education Council); Dekyi Palmo (Academic Section); mathematics textbook editor Tenzin Tsephal; Sonam Gyalpo and Thinley Palmo (Upper TCV); Sonam Choedon (TCV Chauntra); Pema Gyaltsen (STS Shimla); Tenzin Tsogyal and Tsering Tsamchoe (Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School); and Dekyi Choedon (THF Mussoorie).
In line with the curriculum guidelines issued by the Kashag (Tibetan Cabinet) in 2008, the mathematics textbooks for Classes I to III—originally compiled and distributed in 2013—were thoroughly reviewed. Drawing on best practices from both the existing Kashag guidelines and the 2023 revised curriculum and textbooks developed by India’s National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), participants developed the table of contents and reorganised the content structure for the updated primary-level mathematics curriculum and textbooks.
The textbooks will be finalised following the completion of the draft compilation. The meeting was supported and funded by DANIDA
