
Dharamshala: On 7 July 2025, in celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday, the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) organised a special Ghoton Exhibition at the courtyard of the Main Tibetan Temple (Tsuglagkhang) at 9 a.m.
The inauguration exhibition was graced by Secretary Lobsang Jinpa of the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (OHHDL) as the chief guest, alongside Ven. Yangten Rinpoche, representing the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Education Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra, and Education Secretary Jigme Namgyal. It was also attended by Additional Secretary Tenzin Dorjee, Head of the Academic Section of DoE, Additional Secretary Tenzin Pema, Director of the Office of Education Council (DoE), Joint Secretary Jamyang Wangyal (Head of the Counselling Section), administrative section from Upper T.C.V school with current staff of DoE and general public.
The event formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Secretary Lobsang Jinpa of the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (OHHDL), who cut the five-coloured ribbon to mark the official opening of the exhibition and lit the traditional butter lamp.
Following the inauguration, the Secretary of the Department of Education delivered an introductory speech regarding the purpose and significance of organising the exhibition. As part of the event, the Chief Guest inaugurated five new educational publication books and a new animation release of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Advice Ep-01 ‘Save Life’.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Secretary Lobsang Jinpa of the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama commended the Department of Education for its initiative, stating that the exhibition not only reflects the remarkable journey of Tibetan education in exile but also stands as a tribute to the visionary guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in preserving Tibetan identity through education.
The programme concluded with a commemorative conclusion marking the 90th birthday celebration, delivered by Tenzin Dorjee, Head of the Traditional and Modern Academic Section at the Department of Education, who also expressed words of gratitude.
The exhibition showcased the evolution of Tibetan schools in exile, featuring a photo display that chronicled their structural and historical development. Also on display were science exhibits prepared by students, along with a wide range of educational publications released by the Department of Education over the years.
The guests, along with CTA staff and members of the general public, inspected the exhibitions. In addition, the Department of Education’s free educational publication books were made available, and educational charts were distributed to the public.
