Department of Education Organises Terminology Quiz Across Seventeen Schools as Part of the Year-long Celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Birthday

Dharamshala: As part of the yearlong celebration of the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Terminology Section under the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, organised a Tibetan terminology quiz in collaboration with twenty Tibetan schools that have established internal Terminology Committees.

Under the theme “His Holiness’ Birthday Celebration Terminology Quiz,” the Terminology Section allocated INR 2,500 to each school to organise quizzes on the terminology standardised by the section. A total of 17 schools successfully conducted the activity, while three Tibetan Children’s Villages (TCV)—Dharamshala, Gopalpur, and Suja—were unable to participate due to other pressing obligations.

At Bylakuppe Tibetan Children’s Village, on 4 October 2025, terminology quizzes were held during the sixth and seventh periods for classes 6 to 8 and classes 9 to 10. Another quiz for classes 11 and 12 was conducted on the afternoon of 6 October 2025 in honour of His Holiness’s birthday year.

At Ladakh Tibetan Children’s Village, on 23 October 2025, coinciding with TCV Foundation Day and Tibet Our Homeland Day, a terminology quiz was conducted for all students from Classes 6 to 10.

On 30 October 2025, Sambhota CVP School in Bylakuppe organised a terminology quiz for students from Classes 1 to 10, grouped into four sections. Students from Classes 1 to 5 were given more than 100 terms, while those from Classes 6 to 10 received over 200 terms. In total, more than 300 terms were used in quiz.

At Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) Mussoorie, a terminology quiz was held on 30 October 2025 for lower primary students. On 1 November 2025, during the morning assembly, the quiz for class 12 students was conducted.

On 31 October 2025, Darjeeling Sambhota Tibetan School organised the terminology quiz for students from Classes 1 to 10 participated in the quiz.

At Sambhota Tibetan School in Gurupura, based in Hunsur Rabgyeling, after pre-announcing the terms for the quiz on 31 October 2025, fifty-two students were selected through written examinations from among students in classes 3 through 10, and the terminology quiz.

At Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School, two male and two female volunteers were selected from each class between classes 4 and 8. A total of twenty students participated in the programme on 1 November in the school auditorium. Divided into four topic categories—compassion, altruism, unity, and empathy—the quiz was held in the presence of all teachers, staff, and students.

At Sambhota Tibetan School, Dholanji, Tibetan teachers introduced the quiz terms to students from classes 1 to 12. Morning assemblies for the quiz were held on 1, 3, and 8 November for classes 1 to 5, and on 3 and 4 November for Classes 6 to 12.

At Sambhota Tibetan School, Kollegal Dhondenling, students in classes 1 to 3 were given picture-based terms, while those in classes 4 to 10 received English–Tibetan terms. From 3 to 7 November 2025, classroom-based quizzes were held, and the top five students from each class were selected. A final quiz competition among the selected students was held in the school hall on 12 November.

At Mundgod Tibetan School, Doeguling, quiz terms were introduced to students in classes 9 to 11. Through a written test, the top three students from each class were selected. On 7 November 2025, a terminology quiz competition was held among selected students.

On 7 November 2025, Miao Sambhota Tibetan Middle School conducted the terminology quiz by dividing all students from classes 4 to 8, along with their teachers, into six sections. Each section was assigned fifteen terms, totalling ninety quiz terms.

On 7 November 2025, at Sambhota Tibetan School, Chandragiri in Phuntsokling, eight students from each class were selected to participate in the quiz.

At Selakui Tibetan Children’s Village, around fifty pages of commonly used terms were compiled, printed, and distributed to the four houses. On the morning of 10 November 2025, four students from each house, from classes 6 to 12, were chosen to represent their teams in the final terminology quiz, concluding the activity.

At Chauntra Tibetan Children’s Village, 42 students from Classes 1 to 10 were selected for the quiz. On 10 November 2025, all students and staff gathered for the event conducted by six Tibetan teachers.

At Mussoorie Sambhota Tibetan School, after introducing the quiz terms and explaining their definitions, Tibetan teachers and students from classes 6 to 10 gathered on 13 November 2025 for the terminology quiz.

At Bylakuppe Sambhota Day School, on 15 November 2025, one male and one female student from each class were selected through a written test to participate in the terminology quiz.

On 16 November 2025, at Drepung Loseling School, students from Classes 3 to 5 participated in a quiz covering over 500 pre-distributed terms from various subjects, completing the terminology quiz activity.
