DoE conducts meeting to review and finalise Pre-primary and Class I Tibetan Language Textbooks



Dharamshala: The Department of Education (DoE) conducted a three-day Pre-Primary and Class 1 Tibetan language

textbooks review meeting from 16-18 May 2022 at the DoE Conference hall. The drafts of the Pre-Primary and Class 1 Tibetan language textbooks were reviewed and finalised on the basis of the curriculum formulated under the principles of the Basic Education Policy for Tibetans in Exile.

The Director of the office of the Education Council explained the importance of the textbook and spoke on the areas of concern in reviewing the textbooks. The review meeting was presided over by Head of the Education Council’s Textbook section, Gedun Dhonyoe, and was attended by textbook review committee members namely Tenzin Pal (Tibetan textbook editor), Mingchung (TCV schools Tibetan language mentor), Pasang Tsering (STSS Tibetan language mentor), Sangpo (THS Tibetan language mentor), Jamgon (TCV Suja Tibetan language teacher), Tenzin Palkyi (LTCV Tibetan language teacher), Bhagdo (UTCV Tibetan language teacher), Ven. Tenzin Choetso (Gangkyi Petoen School Tibetan language teacher), Jampa Palmo (UTCV Montessori teacher), Passang (Gangkyi Petoen School Montessori teacher), Tenzin Dolker (THS Dekyiling Pre-Primary School Headmistress).
The review committee members altogether carried out a thorough discussion, made necessary alterations, and reviewed the drafts of the textbooks during the meeting funded by DANIDA. The textbook editor will make the necessary modifications as per the review meeting and prepare the second draft of the textbooks.
