
Dharamshala: As per the resolutions of the Education Council and Advisory Committee Conference, the Chair and members of the Education Council and Advisory Committee, Department of Education (CTA), conducted inspection visits to Sambhota Tibetan Schools, scheduled from 29 September to 24 November 2025.
In South India-based Tibetan settlements, the Chair of the Education Council and Advisory Committee, Geshe Lharampa Tashi Tsering, former Abbot of Sera Mey Monastic University, visited the Sambhota Tibetan Schools (STS)—namely STS Kollegal, STS Gurupura, STS Arlikumari, STS Kailashpura, STS Bylakuppe, STS CVP Bylakuppe, STS Gulledhala, TCV Bylakuppe, and STS Mundgod—and their affiliated branch and pre-primary schools from 29 September to 11 October.
Similarly, a member of the Education Council and Advisory Committee, Lhakpa Tsering, Professor at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Varanasi, paid inspection visits to TCV and ITI Selakui, STS Herbertpur, THS Rajpur, THS Gohri Mafi, THS Dekyiling, THS Mussoorie, and STS Mussoorie from 29 September to 9 October.
Another member of the Education Council and Advisory Committee, Sonam Gyaltsen (Lecturer at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah), visited STS Kalimpong, STS Darjeeling, STS Sonada, STS Ravangla, STS Tezu, STS Miao, and STS Tenzingang from 13 to 24 October.
During these visits, the Chair and members examined the implementation of the Central Tibetan Administration’s Basic Education Policy, the integration of secular ethics programmes, and the use of textbooks distributed by the Department of Education. They also assessed the overall condition of school facilities, including libraries, classrooms, science laboratories, dormitories, and dining halls. Furthermore, they observed teaching methods, student performance standards, and the status of pre-primary sections. Constructive guidance and recommendations were provided through meetings with teachers, staff, and parents.
In the coming month, the Principal of Palkhang Academy and former Tibetan Parliamentarian, Palkhang Nyima Dhondup, another member of the Education Council and Advisory Committee, is scheduled to inspect schools in northern India.
The successful completion of these inspection visits was made possible through the cooperation and support of the respective school secretariats, principals, vice-principals, and staff members. All expenses for this programme were generously funded by DANIDA (the Danish International Development Agency).
