Dharamshala: Kalon (Minister) Tharlam Dolma Changra of the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, as chief guest, addressed the closing ceremony of the five-day workshop on SEE Learning (SEEL) and Cognitively Based Compassion Training (CBCT) for Tibetan school SEEL program facilitators on 2 June 2024.

In her keynote address, Education Kalon said, “We have seen that in an ethical society, persons with less education do not cause societal issues. However, those with greater education but no ethical behaviour do. Since it is critical to have ethics in oneself, the Education Department has pushed the notion of See Learning in schools and provided a series of training to teachers and principals.” The Kalon expressed her appreciation to the workshop facilitators and encouraged the participants to implement what they learned from the workshop at their respective schools. “The Department of Education’s primary objective is to ensure that all Tibetan schools provide students with a standardised education and ethical conduct. It is well known that the main cause of problems in today’s society is ethical deficiency,” Kalon added.

Besides Education Kalon, the concluding ceremony of the workshop was graced by the presence of Prof. Lobsang Tenzin Negi, Executive Director, and Tsondue Samphel, Assistant Director and program facilitator of SEE Learning, from Emory University. Also in attendance was Additional Secretary Tenzin Pema from the Education Department’s Education Council, along with 38 participants from various Tibetan schools.

The workshop was entirely funded by DANIDA.
