Dharamshala: Kalon (Minister) Tharlam Dolma Changra of the Department of Education (DoE) made an official visit to Tibetan Children’s Village, Gopalpur, on 15 April 2024.
The visiting Kalon, accompanied by Dharamshala Tibetan Settlement Officer Kunchok Migmar, received a warm welcome upon arrival at the school’s premises from Director Kalsang Phuntsok, Principal Karma Sherab Tharchin, and students.
Kalon Tharlam Dolma convened a meeting with the school administrators and, thereafter, toured classrooms, hostels, and homes to inspect the facilities.
After completing the inspection, Education Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra spoke to senior students from classes seven and above at the school’s auditorium.
The Kalon emphasised the importance of preserving the Tibetan language in her keynote address and persuaded, “It is our responsibility to preserve our rich Tibetan language and speak it fluently without intermixing words and phrases of other languages.” Kalon further told the students to utilise their potential to the best of their ability and improve their weaknesses while knowing their strengths. To achieve this goal, she said that students should communicate openly with their teachers to bring out the best in them. The Education Kalon also encouraged students to maintain self-discipline and condemned bullying in school.
Kalon Tharlam Dolma met and interacted with teachers and staff separately in the afternoon before concluding her official visit to TCV Gopalpur.
The Education Kalon will make inspection visits to Tibetan schools based in and around Dharamshala in the following days.
