Haryana: The 51st National Level Science, Mathematics, and Environment Exhibition (Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani) took place at Haryana Sports University in Rai, Sonipat, from 26 to 31 December 2024. Organised by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in collaboration with the Haryana Department of School Education, the event attracted over 400 exhibitors with more than 185 exhibits from 29 states, as well as autonomous bodies like CTA schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Schools and Atomic Energy Schools. More than 10,000 student visitors from various schools in Haryana attended the exhibition.
The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, alongside Shri Mahipal Dhanda, the Hon’ble Minister of School and Higher Education, Haryana, and Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director of NCERT. The event included a variety of activities, such as lectures by distinguished scientists and professors, as well as an educational excursion in the last day. On the second day, in observance of the passing of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the exhibition observed a period of mourning and canceled the cultural performances. The valedictory function was graced by Pankaj Aggarwal, the esteemed Chief Education Commissioner, along with Sri Jitendra Kumar, Director of Secondary Education, Haryana, and Prof. Sunita Farkya, Head of DESM, NCERT.
The exhibits at the event were organised under the theme “Science and Technology for Society,” which included five sub-themes: health (focusing on innovations in healthcare), LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment, promoting sustainable living), agriculture (emphasising advancements in farming and food security), communication and transport (showcasing future mobility concepts), and computational thinking (highlighting technology-driven problem-solving). The wide range of exhibits added creativity and energy to the event, transforming it into a vibrant platform for innovation and knowledge exchange.
Leading up to the national exhibition, a preliminary school-level exhibition was held in individual Tibetan schools based on the theme provided by NCERT. The best exhibits from this stage were selected for the 7th CTA Level Science, Mathematics, and Environment Exhibition in July 2024, supported by funding from USAID. From this pool, 12 top exhibits were submitted to NCERT, and five were selected for the 51st RBVK exhibition. This included six students from TCV Selakui, who represented three exhibits, and three students from STS Gurupura, who represented two exhibits, showcasing the talents of Tibetan schools on the national stage. The exhibition successfully fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange, inspiring creativity and problem-solving skills among students, with support provided by their guide-teachers.
This program provided an excellent opportunity for Tibetan students, along with students from different regions of India, to demonstrate their scientific abilities, engage in meaningful educational exchange, and showcase the potential of science and technology in creating a better future.
