Invitation of write-ups from young Tibetans

For the last 56 years what has united the Tibetans around the world is mainly the presence, guidance and the tireless efforts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama now over 80 years old. The question about the future of Tibetan is urgent and critical. Since 1959, Tibetans are divided between those living in Tibet under the communist Chinese rule and those living in the free world outside Tibet scattered in more than thirty countries under different socio-economics and cultural conditions and loosing Tibetan Identity among younger generations is real threat for us.

Therefore, to know the views of young Tibetans-what is Tibetan Identity, why is it important, how can we preserve it? etc. The department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration invites essays/write-ups from young Tibetans on the topics suggested below.

Suggested Topics:

  • The meaning of Tibetan Identity.
  • What does it mean to be a Tibetan?
  • What makes you a Tibetan person?
  • Special qualities that a Tibetan should have.
  • Factors that can keep the Tibetans in diaspora united.
  • What makes you proudly say, “I am a Tibetan”?
  • How can we preserve Tibetan Identity?
  • My experience of meeting a stranger Tibetan.
  • Roles of elder Tibetans for making the younger generations aware of their true Identity.
  • Contributions a Tibetan can make for the betterment of mankind.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Eligible age limits 16-35 years.
  • Length of write-ups in Tibetan should be in Monlam Tibetan font 16 point, 1.5 page, A4 size or if it is hand written 700 syllables. English Times Roman 12 point, one A4 page.
  • Deadline: 16th May 2016.
  • DoE will have the exclusive right to the essays in any way necessary.
  • Cash award of INR 1000/- plus certificate of appreciation for the top 30 entries and certificate of participation for another 150 entries.
