Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra Meets Heads of Ladakh Tibetan Settlement, Visits Re-Settlement Project Site and Ladakh Public School

Ladakh: Education Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra, on a special invitation visited to Camp 8 of the Ladakh Tibetan Settlement on 21 May, attended a function organised to honour Rinchen Karma Tsomo for achieving 95% in the 12th CBSE exam, who will also receive the Department of Education’s Excellence Award.

The event was also attended by the Local Justice Commissioner, President and the members of the Local Tibetan Assembly, TCV Director, CRO staff, local Tibetan Healthcare Centre staff, community representatives, and eight leaders from the Leh area.

On the same morning, the Kalon visited the CTA’s Magyu and Chushul Re-Settlement project sites to assess the progress and met with committee members of the project.

Following this, Education Kalon held discussions with the heads and staff of various local institutions based in Sonamling Settlement, Ladakh. It was attended by a distinguished gathering comprising the Local Justice Commissioner, President and members of the Local Tibetan Assembly, TCV Ladakh Director and Principal, heads of the Leh and Jangthang regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, head of the local Tibetan Women’s Association, head of the local Tibetan Youth Congress, CRO staff, the Jangtang Coordinator, head of the local Men-Tse-Khang branch, head nurse of local Tibetan Healthcare Centre, camp leaders from the Leh area, and representatives from NGOs. The Kalon’s speech was broadcasted on the local corporative cable network in the evening.

Before concluding her maiden official visit to Ladakh, in the afternoon of that day, Kalon visited Ladakh Public School at the invitation of its Principal and delivered a talk on “Importance of Being a Progressive and Compassionate Teachers in the 21st Century.” It was attended by teachers and Principals from eight CBSE-affiliated private schools located in and around Leh.
