Palampur Science Centre Brings Mobile Science Exhibition to Dharamshala Region’s Tibetan Schools

Dharamshala: The Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), coordinated with Palampur Science Centre—a unit of the National Council of Science Museums—to organise a STEM awareness program via the Centre’s mobile exhibition bus at five Tibetan schools in the Dharamshala region. A two-day programme per Tibetan school is being held with all costs borne by the Palampur Science Centre.

On 5 January 2026, DoE Science Education Officer had a discussion on future excursion programs lined up in 2026 with Ram Swaroop, the Principal Curator and Head of Palampur Science Centre at the Science Centre. During the meeting. Swaroop generously offers the mobile exhibition for the schools in Dharamshala region.

So far, the exhibition held at TCV Suja School on 24-25 April 2026, and TCV Gopalpur School on 27-28 April 2026. Upcoming sessions are scheduled for Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School and Upper TCV School, followed by TCV Chauntra School, based on the school calendars. The schools have been requested to arrange hospitality support.

The programme aims to popularise science among children through hands-on, fun learning.  It also aims to build scientific literacy, foster awareness, and temperament amongst students and teachers by delivering beneficial educational programs.

TCV Suja and TCV Gopalpur schools warmly welcomed Ram Swaroop as the Chief Guest at the inaugural Program of Science and Maths Day cum Exhibition. Swaroop delivered an inspiring lecture on the theme “From Curiosity to Creation: Cultivating Scientific Temper and Innovation through Hands on Science Activities.”  A dedicated team from the Science Centre, who had developed the exhibition models, actively participated in the exhibition by explaining in detail, the concepts and science behind each model, igniting the students’ scientific curiosity. Respective schools principal and headmaster presented tokens of appreciation for their generous support.
