Practical Life Workshop for Pre-primary Teachers Commences

Dharamshala: The Practical Life Workshop, organised by the Department of Education, CTA, commenced on 23 April 2024. The workshop, designed for pre-primary teachers from schools in the south, is being held at Sera Jey Yiga Choeling Center, Bylakuppe, from 23 April to 3 May 2024.

The inaugural session of the workshop, which commenced at 8:30 am on 23 April 2024 was attended by the training facilitator, Diwo Lhamo Pemba, Dawa Tashi, Principal of STS Bylakuppe, and 34 workshop participants. Principal Dawa Tashi, representing the Department of Education, extended a warm welcome to the trainer and participants. He emphasised the significance of the workshop and encouraged the teachers to apply their learning in their classrooms upon their return, ensuring the benefit of the children under their care. Workshop trainer Lhamo Pemba introduced the aims and objectives of the workshop, emphasising the developmental stages during early childhood.

Throughout the 10-day workshop, participants will delve into a brief biography of Dr. Maria Montessori, practical life activities, personal and environmental care, grace and courtesy, and other essential components through hands-on learning experiences. As part of the workshop itinerary, they will also visit creches and pre-primary schools in Bylakupee on 29 April.

Under the guidance of the Department of Education, the workshop is being coordinated by the Principal of STS Bylakuppe and is generously funded by Sally Connellan from Australia.
