The 17th Orientation on Transition, College Admission & Scholarship to outgoing Class XII students of 2022 commences

The Department of Education, CTA organizes school-based Orientation on Transition from School to College/Professional or Vocational Institute, College Admission & Scholarship to graduating Class XII students of STS Kalimpong & STS Darjeeling on 19th & 21st May 2022 respectively. DOE Counselor/Under Secretary, Mr. Tenzin Chonden la conducts the Orientation at the respective schools.

Organizing Orientation for outgoing students is one of the very important activities for students under the overall Guidance & Counseling program. It helps them to make a smooth transition from school to College/Professional & Vocational Institutes. It also educates them on the psychological changes that they will go through because of the transition & how to validate and learn to overcome those normal emotions and move forward positively. Orientation also helps in reducing drop outs and maladjustments as well as knowing who to contact when in need/problem. Providing updated information on college admission procedure, course choices, college selection criteria, fee structure makes them and their parents an informed decision-makers regarding their post-secondary educational plan.

The Class XII students will receive an individual copy of Orientation Booklet (2022) with a message from Hon. Education Kalon, Mrs. Tharlam Dolma Changra and comprises of information on college courses, tips from alumni, Entrance Tests (NEET/JEE (Main), CLAT, CUET (UG) etc), list of Top Institutes, List of Tibetan Educational Institutes & Vocational Centers, List of Fake Universities published by University Grants Commission (UGC), Ragging Ban policy, sample online College Application Form (FSR Delhi University) etc.

The purpose of organizing at these two schools handed over from CTSA in early 2021 doesn’t have a full time School Guidance Counselors. The process of recruiting School Guidance Counselor at STS Kalimpong & STS Darjeeling is in process.

The School Guidance Counselors of TCV, THF, STSS & SLF (Nepal) is directed to hold Orientation to the class XII students before they graduate from their schools. The Department of Education has published, printed & distributed the 1000 Orientation booklet containing all information needed to prepare the outgoing students for the next stage of their life & directed to issue it to the students during the Orientation held at schools.

The Department of Education CTA has organized and conducted 16th Orientation to Class XII graduates till date and of these (11 was zonal based for students from all schools and 4 school based at CST Schools before the transfer from CTSA).

The Orientation Program is funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
