Education Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra Delivers Message on Parents’ Day

Dharamshala: Today, on Tibetan Parents’ Day, celebrated in honour of all parents, especially His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s mother (Gyalyum Chenmo) Dekyi Tsering, Education Kalon (Minister) Tharlam Dolma Changra, Department of Education (CTA), delivered a heartfelt message acknowledging the vital role parents play in shaping Tibet’s future generations. The message also paid tribute to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the protector of peace and Tibetan culture.

In her message, Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra first highlighted the profound contributions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, particularly His Holiness’ efforts in establishing cultural institutions, settlements, monasteries, and schools. These endeavours have been instrumental in preserving and promoting Tibet’s unique language, religion, and customs, providing a strong foundation for the Tibetan community in exile.

The message further emphasised the importance of parents guiding their children with patience, understanding, and care, rather than through harsh discipline. As children grow, especially during their higher education years, parents are urged to monitor their well-being and provide timely advice, helping them navigate potential challenges and negative influences.

It also stressed the need for collaboration between parents and teachers to address any challenges related to children’s education, conduct, or health. Parents were also encouraged to be mindful of their children’s nutritional needs and avoid excessive material indulgence. The preservation of the Tibetan language was highlighted as a crucial part of safeguarding Tibetan culture, with an emphasis on its study and use in daily life.
