Announcement: Wasatch Academy Scholarship 2024

Dharamshala: The Department of Education, CTA, is delighted to extend the announcement of the Wasatch Academy Scholarship for the fall 2024 admission, specifically dedicated to supporting two Tibetan refugee students. 

Wasatch Academy, located in Utah, USA, is committed to offering a comprehensive scholarship covering tuition, room, and board, totalling $74,000 annually for the entire high school duration, encompassing Grades 9 through 12 at Wasatch Academy. 

It is essential to be aware that while this scholarship generously covers major expenses, students and their families are responsible for additional costs, as has been customary in previous years. These include, but are not limited to: 

– Flight ticket to the U.S. 

– Any transportation costs to and from the campus. 

Required mandatory fees: 

– Classroom resource fee: $500 

– Laundry fee: $200 

– Transportation fee: $600 

– Junior class fee (Grade 11 only): $900 

– Senior class fee (Grade 12 only): $550 

– Health insurance 2023-24 rate: $160.05/month 

– A Laptop, personal spending money, and fees for any recreation program if opted. 

Additionally, students are accountable for securing their own accommodations during the school’s four scheduled breaks (Fall break, Thanksgiving break, Winter break, and Spring break).

Applicant eligibility and required documents to be uploaded: 

  1. The applicant must be a Tibetan refugee student who has a Green Book and the  applicant and his/her parents’ Green Book contributions must be paid till March 2023.

The Form A needs to be stamped and signed by the concerned Tibetan Settlement  Officer. (Upload Form A) 

  1. Applicant must have completed Class VIII in 2023 with a score of 75% and above.  (Upload Class VIII Marks Card.) 
  2. Upload a scanned copy of a valid IC or IC receipt. 

Selection process: 

  1. After the screening of the applications submitted, the eligible applicants are required  to sit for a written test of Tibetan, English and Mathematics, to be held in April 2 and  3, 2024. The test will be conducted in respective Tibetan Settlement Offices. The final score will be distributed as follows with more weightage to Mathematics: 

Tibetan = 25%, English = 25%, and Mathematics = 50% 

  1. Six top scorers will be selected for the final selection interview which will be taken by Wasatch Academy.
