Department of Education Holds Virtual Workshop for Teachers

Dharamshala: As per the Exile Tibetan Education policy for intermediary schools, the Education department has finalised and published the social science curriculum for class 6 which has been agreed upon for implementation from the academic year 2023 across TCV and Sambhota schools.

In order to remove difficulties during the implementation of the Tibetan and social science terminologies for the social science teachers, a workshop has been scheduled from 1-18 January 2023. Prior to the workshop, for preparation on 29 and 30 November the teachers of intermediary schools were introduced to the social science curriculum and given an 8-hour virtual session on the topic of methods for learning Tibetan. On the first day, Education Council Tenzin Pema Additional Secretary introduced the aim of teaching subjects in Tibetan to class 6 and above. The author of the Social Science textbook, Pasang Tsering briefly introduced the content of the curriculum. Thereafter, trainer Palden Namgyal Beri conducted a session on the essence of reading in Tibetan.  The virtual workshop is being organised by traditional academic section of the Education Department. Twenty-six schools are participating in this workshop with thirty teachers.
