DoE conducts workshop for teachers on integrating Brain Gym with remedial teaching for children

The Department of Education organized a workshop for teachers on integrating Brain Gym with remedial teaching for children with special needs at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society, Dharamshala, from March 15–18, 2024. The workshop was attended by 25 teachers from 24 different schools. The resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Shipra Gupta and Dr. Mrigank Aggarwal from Sensable Child.

The workshop aimed to provide teachers with comprehensive insights, strategies, and practical techniques to support the teaching and care of students with diverse issues such as ADHD, ASD, and learning disabilities. Teachers were introduced to Brain Gym exercises and techniques aimed at improving focus, creativity, and enhancing the academic experience of children. The set of 26 Brain Gym movements is designed to enhance cognitive functions and promote better communication between different parts of the brain within the right and left hemispheres.

Teachers gained practical experience with all 26 Brain Gym movements and learned how to incorporate them into academic and day-to-day activities for children. These exercises also enable children to return to a calm state, develop basic motor skills, self-awareness, and stress management techniques. Additionally, they help in exploring physical skills such as noticing, concentrating, organizing, and communicating effectively. The Department of Education would like to thank PRM for funding this workshop.
