DoE Science Education Officer attended a workshop at NCERT

The Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (DESM), NCERT organized a two-day workshop for the coordinators of the State Level Science, Mathematics, Environment Exhibition from the SCERT and the representatives of other educational institutions at the Central Institute of Educational Technology, NCERT in New Delhi. Mr. Dorjee Wangdue, Science Education Officer of DoE, CTA along with 30 other representatives from 19 States and Union Territories were present during the workshop.

The workshop was conducted under the overall coordination and supervision of Prof T.P Sharma. The core objective of this workshop was to focus on popularizing Science and Mathematics among the masses across the country by providing a forum for children to pursue their natural curiosity, innovation, and inventiveness so that the sapling of scientific temper will sprout through the younger generation. During the workshop, various interactive and technical sessions were discussed by the Resource Persons.

The valedictory function was chaired by Prof. Sunita Farkya, Head of DESM, Prof. T.P Sarma, Programme Coordinator, and Dr. C.V Shimray, Assistant Professor in DESM, NCERT. 

During the group presentation, all the States and Union Territories coordinators briefed their State Level Exhibition in detail. Mr. Dorjee Wangdue also made a briefing regarding the CTA level exhibitions which were held since 2017. He also explained how the COVID-19 pandemic has brought up challenges of declining participants in the science exhibition as well as opportunities of addressing such challenges through various other initiatives. He offered gratitude to the Govt. of India for the generous support to the Tibetan people for the last 63 years. He particularly expressed gratitude to NCERT for providing the opportunity for CTA to participate in the national-level exhibition since 2016.

In 2021, 5 exhibits from Tibetan Schools were selected for the 48th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition (JNNSMEE) for Children 2021. The selected exhibits were displayed online through the NCERT portal.
