Sambhota Tibetan School in Gurupura Student Among Top 12 Speakers at Parliament House ‘Know Your Leader’ Event in New Delhi

New Delhi: An important national event titled “Know Your Leader” was organised by the Parliament House in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, at the Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan in the Parliament complex, New Delhi, on 31 October 2025. The event aimed to encourage the participation of youth in Parliamentary events and to pay tribute to great national leaders on their birth anniversaries.

The occasion was held to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. Participation categories included NGOs connected to the respective leaders, Higher education (UGC, and School education institutions (NCERT). Sambhota Tibetan School (STS) Gurupura participated under the school education category.

Tenzin Dodhon, Class X student of STS Gurupura, who had earlier been chosen for the National Science and Mathematics Exhibition, underwent several screening and selection rounds and successfully secured a position among the Top 12 speakers of India. She had the honour to deliver a speech paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi Ji in the esteemed presence of Honourable Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla Ji, distinguished dignitaries, and student representatives from across the country

The event was broadcast live on Sansad TV, making it a moment of great pride for the school and the Tibetan community at large.

Another student, Tenzin Yangdon, who also took part in screening stages, was selected to attend the event as a part of the school team, though she was not selected for the final speech delivery.

The students, along with the escort teacher and the School Principal, were provided comfortable accommodation and given a guided tour of the Parliament House. After the program and lunch, they visited the India Gate and a Museum, which enriched their knowledge and experience.

The participation of our students in this national-level event brought immense honour to STS Gurupura and hopefully to our Tibetan brothers and sisters at large. The experience motivated them to become responsible citizens and to draw inspiration from the great leaders who shaped this incredible nation. It set a remarkable benchmark for other students to strive for excellence.
